How It Works

When it comes to environmental compliance and computer recycling, we’ve got you covered. Assets that no longer function or are below a usable technology threshold are permanently destroyed, and base materials are reclaimed through EPA and DEP recognized electronic waste recycling for reuse in industry.

Our philosophy is to redeploy equipment or to maximize any remarketing value in all IT assets at either the system or component level. If the remarketing option is not financially feasible or declined by our clients, we utilize DEP and EPA-recognized e-waste disposal methods and provide certification that all materials have been processed in an environmentally compliant manner following our electronic waste recycling policy:

   • Zero landfill
   • Zero incineration
   • Zero waste exported
   • Reuse of all reclaimed base materials

Before preparing assets for disposition, our approach is to first evaluate IT assets for possible reuse opportunities and remarket as a system or at the component level. This determination will be based upon market conditions and the age of equipment being retired. Remarketing of material not only helps extend the product life cycle for usable equipment or components, but also keeps used IT equipment from joining the fast-growing e-waste stream.

If remarketing is not financially feasible or possible, Hi Tech Recyclers will properly prepare the equipment for disposal in an environmentally friendly and compliant manner – adhering to our zero landfill and zero e-waste export policy.

Hi Tech Recyclers offers companies comprehensive IT asset disposition services that properly prepare assets for compliant disposal while meeting strict environmental concerns.  First, we dismantle and separate electronic waste into basic components and materials. Components and materials include:

  • Power Supplies
  • Mother boards
  • Finger boards
  • CD Rom and Floppy drives
  • Monitors
  • Plastic
  • Wire
  • Steel
  • Aluminum

Next, we send these components to a certified recycler that will smelt the boards and separate the precious metals.  We rely on local company partnerships to recycle the base components and materials of the electronics we dismantle.

Proper monitor recycling and disposal is paramount to avoid large federal and state fines and other serious consequences. Improper computer monitor recycling is a major source of pollution. In addition, computer monitors are classified as hazardous waste by state and federal agencies. Monitors contain cathode ray tubes and can contain more than 8 pounds of lead. Studies at Carnegie Melon University and the National Recycling Coalition conservatively estimate over a billion pounds of lead heads towards our landfills and potentially to our ground water supplies by improperly recycling monitors and other E equipment.

Monitors are tested and checked for problems. If the monitors test well they are reused. If the monitors test poorly, they are transfered to a location where the copper and lead are retrieved from the screen.  Our monitor recycling process is DEP and EPA compliant.  We issue Certificate's of Recycle for each monitor tracked and recycled.
